Casey vs Pymetrics vs CCA — Which Will You Face?
BCG uses a different first-round assessment depending on your office and role. Here is how to figure out which one is coming.
The short answer
- North America / UK / most Europe: Casey chatbot
- Germany / DACH: Cognitive test
- Some EMEA + 2025 rollouts: Consulting Career Assessment (CCA)
- US, declining: Pymetrics (still active but being phased down)
- Anywhere, legacy: Potential Test (mostly retired)
How to confirm
- Read the invitation email carefully. BCG names the tool ("Casey", "Pymetrics", "Cognitive Test").
- Ask the recruiter. They will tell you. This is normal and not a red flag.
- Check the link domain. Pymetrics links go to pymetrics.ai. Casey links go to BCG-hosted URLs.
Time you should allocate
| Test | Length | Prep time |
|---|---|---|
| Casey | 30-45 min | 10-15 hours |
| Pymetrics | 25-30 min | 2-3 hours |
| Cognitive | 30 min | 15-20 hours |
| CCA | 30-35 min | 10 hours |
Why BCG rotates tests
Partly to fight AI-assisted cheating, partly to test different cognitive profiles. Expect the format to keep evolving. Train the underlying skills (structure, math, judgment) and you will be ready for whichever lands in your inbox.
